The Adventures of Addison

Addison is having a great summer so far and has already had many fun adventures! Since Avery was born, we've really tried hard to make Addison still feel special since a lot of the attention has been focused on her new sister. We've also tried to keep Addison as busy as possible since she is home all summer with us while we are on vacation from school. Typically Addison goes to Montessori school during the year, but since Scott and I are home for two months in the summer, we keep Addison home with us too. This means trying to find new and fun ways of entertaining her. Here's some of her adventures thus far this summer...

1. Pump It Up!! You may remember back in the winter, I posted about this. It's basically the best way to wear out a two year old... giant inflatable playground/jungle gym stuff. Addison loves it!! We went one day with Aunt Emily while she was visiting and then went back again a few days later with Dadda. Needless to say, after a few hours of playing here, Addison crashes hard for naptime.

2. Splash Valley! This is the new pool/water park at our local rec center that just opened last summer. It's sooo much fun! Addison loves anything water related so she has a blast at the pool. Again, we went while Emily was visiting so that she could get in the pool with Addison and play while I hung out under the tent with Avery.

3. Glazed Bisque It! Okay, so I apologize for not having a picture to go with this, but I forgot to take my camera with me. Downtown Roanoke has a really cute Paint Your Own Pottery studio that is reallly kid friendly, so I decided to take Addison down there one morning and we had a super fun time painting pottery. Addison seems to be a very artistic kid and loves anything that involves painting, coloring, etc so this was right up her alley.

4. Baking Cupcakes! A new favorite pasttime... we have baked cupcakes several times so far this summer. Lots of fun, but not so great for mommy's post-pregnancy weight loss : P

5. Fishing with Daddy! For several months now, Addison has been begging Scott to take her fishing with him. This of course made Daddy very proud that he has a little girl that wants to fish. So of course we had to go out and get her some gear...we bought Addison her very own Dora the Explorer fishing rod and a Dora life jacket. Then last week Scott, our friend Gavin, and little Mason went for their first fishing adventure... and it was awesome!! Addison LOVED it! She touched the worms and fish and even kissed one of the fish before she threw it back into it's home. Daddy was very proud!

So that's Addison's summer so far. Other than those big events, we have been playing in the backyard, swimming in our baby pool, and watching a lot of "Cars" and "Bubble Guppies." Only 5 more weeks of summer vacation, who knows what else we will find to get into!
