Last Saturday, Aunt Teener (my sister Christine) came up from Radford for the day and we took Addison out to Layman Farms. It was our first visit so we had no idea what to expect. We got out there in the late afternoon and had a blast for about two hours. The main attraction at the farm is a big corn maze that looks super hard, so we didn't even attempt. But they also have tons of activities for kids (and adults) of all ages. First we visited the farm animals. Addison loves all animals and is super smart when it comes to naming all of them. We saw pigs, cows, horses, sheep, goats, and chickens. Addison even made the corresponding animal noise when she saw them... what a smarty pants!
Then we moved on to the swings, rubber ducky water races, and then to the cracked corn pit. It was so fun! They had a huge covered, gated area that was filled with cracked corn and the kids could jump around and dig in it. Addison loved it! We might have to consider putting cracked corn in her water table for the fall. Then we moved on to the cow train ride (also super fun!) and the hayride that took us on a tour of the farm and stopped by the pumpkin patch so that we could pick our own pumpkins. The final activity of the day was by far Addison's favorite... the giant jumping pillow! Aunt Teener got the joy of having to chase Addison around on this. I can't even explain it so look at the pictures below, but she absolutely loved this thing and probably would have spent five hours just jumping around on it. Finally, we decided it was getting late and we headed home. Needless to say, Addison was pretty worn out that night and slept really well! We had a great day and decided that Layman Farms will have to become a fall tradition of ours. Enjoy the pics below!
