The Weaver Family Webpage: A Quick Recap of Christmas

Well it was certainly a FUN Christmas for the Weaver Family this year! This was the first year that Addison was old enough to really understand the concept of Santa, so she was pretty excited for about three weeks leading up to Christmas.We visited Santa several times at various events and although it took Addison a bit to warm up to him, by the third time that we saw Santa at a Storytime event, she really took to him! She told him exactly what she wanted for Christmas (a ballerina and princess purse) and even told Santa what Avery wanted (baby food!) What a good, big sister to be thinking of Avery. Our Christmas adventures began on the 22nd when we loaded up the van and headed north to my parents house in Winchester, VA. While in Winchester, Addison got to go to a special inflatable playhouse (yay!), Scott got to golf with my dad and visit the Alamo Theater (basically the coolest theater ever!) and I got to catch up with a few friends from high school. On Christmas Eve, we continued the tradition of driving down to Ashburn to have dinner and exchange gifts with the Brill Family. Those of you who don't know the Brills, Monique was the first babysitter my sisters and I ever had when we were super young living in DC. She was 15 when she started sitting for us and kind of became like a surrogate daughter to my parents. Even after we left DC and moved overseas, we kept in touch with her. Now she of course is married and has two girls of her own that we babysat when they were small children. For about 10 years we have always spent Christmas Eve together, and now with my girls around, it is even more special to see another generation continuing this tradition. Addison especially loves the attention she gets from Monique's girls, Kasey and Danielle. After spending the evening with them, we headed back to Nana's house in Winchester and prepared the cookies and reindeer food. Addison was sooo worn out that she fell asleep as soon as she got in bed. The next morning was pretty exciting watching Addison see her presents from Santa and then open even more presents from her Pitotti side of the family. Avery of course is only 6 months old, so she was just happy to see all the cool toys and tissue paper flying everywhere. After presents, we loaded up the van again and headed back to Roanoke. Scott and I had a few presents at the house for the girls and then we headed to his parents' house for dinner and even more gifts. By the time we finished all that, both of the girls were seriously tapped out and needed bedtime! They had a fantastic Christmas and all of our friends and family were so generous. They truly are lucky (and spoiled rotten) little girls! So now we have another week of vacation before heading back to the grind of teaching again. Somehow I think it will go by very quickly.
