If you remember Addison's baptism post, she was a little older so she wasn't as skittish, but she too had her moment. She decided to kick her shoes off during the baptism several times and they went flying into the pews. Nice. Well Miss Avery obviously felt the need to really make a statement at her baptism and showed the congregation just how well she could be heard. Initially, she just seemed a little confused about the whole 'water on the head' thing, but then when our pastor walked her down the aisle to present her to the congregation, she screamed something awful thinking she was being taken away from me. Disclaimer - she is extremely clingly to me the past few weeks, so I knew this was coming (and sidenote - I'm SOOO over this clingy phase.) So our pastor walks her to the back of the church (screaming), walks back to the front of the church (still screaming), and as they approach us standing at the front, Avery starts to calm down thinking she's getting her mommy back. But then, just as our pastor walks towards us, he takes a detour and heads up onto the altar to show her off to the choir. And hysterical screaming and crying ensued! Finally our pastor hands her off to me and she instantly dried it up and smiled for the congregation. Can we say split personality?!
In any event, it was a nice church service and baptism and we had a great family gathering at the house afterwards. Avery received several sweet gifts for her baptism, especially from her Fairy Godmother Maggie who gave her a small cross pendant and a CUTE baby lamb that plays music. Avery is very lucky to have Maggie as her fairy godmother!
